VSS is a Microsoft service. It cannot be used on operating systems other than Windows.
Xopero ONE uses Shadow Copy (also known as Volume Snapshot Service, Volume Shadow Copy Service, or VSS) to backup operations. VSS is a Windows technology that allows the taking of manual or automatic backup copies or snapshots of files or volumes, even when they are in use.
When creating a Plan, in the advanced settings, we can define the use of VSS during backup. Just flip the switch.
We can also allow the backup to continue in case of VSS errors.
Without VSS, data may be inconsistent. Use this technology only when you really know what you are doing, such as outside of working hours.
In this tab, we can define how to handle of the program when errors occur.
Run overdue backup tasks switch - when the backup not started for any reason, the system may restart the task when the device is online again.
The plan will not restart using this function if the plan has been blocked by the backup window.
Repeat backup on fail - we can define the number of repetitions of the task in the event of an error and the time interval, i.e. the time interval between retries.
Ignore bad sectors - by default, the system will stop performing backups when it detects bad sectors. However, we can ignore bad sectors and continue the backup operation.
