Cleanup of deduplication data
This article explains how to remove residual files left after deduplication from storage.
Cleanup function overview
The cleanup function in Xopero ONE removes residual files left after deduplication. While deduplication reduces storage requirements by eliminating duplicate data blocks, it can also leave behind orphaned files with no further use. Over time, these files may accumulate and occupy space required for new backups, which can result in reduced storage performance.
It is important to note that after removing backup plans (or parts of them) that used deduplication, you should run cleanup.
Running the cleanup
The storage remains unavailable for the entire cleanup process, which can be time-consuming. During this period, backup tasks cannot be performed.
Login to and go to Storages tab.
Select the storage, then click Edit storage button to access its advanced settings.

In Edit storage side panel, select Start cleanup.

Confirm the action and click Run now to begin the process.

The system will identify and remove files left after deduplication, freeing up storage space. During this process, the storage will be temporarily unavailable.
