Storage Overview

General information

Storages is the location where the backups are stored. Xopero ONE allows users to define multiple datastores, and they can be assigned to any backup plan. During the backup, the agent writes data directly to the data storage, no other system element intervenes in this process.

There are nine types of storage that an administrator can create:

  • Local directory,

  • Network location (SMB share),

  • AWS (Amazon Web Service),

  • S3 storage (S3 compliant providers),

  • Network File Storage (NFS share),

  • Wasabi,

  • Backblaze B2,

  • Google Cloud Storage,

  • Azure Blob Storage.

Storage management is available on the Storages tab in Xopero ONE Panel.

You can connect network resources to a local computer using the iSCSI protocol. Then you can use such a resource as storage in Xopero ONE. Just add it as a local directory type.

Using MinIO you can connect local S3 buckets to Xopero ONE. This will allow you to take advantage of all the benefits. For example, increasing the security level by using Access Key / Secret Key for resources.

Adding storage

To add new storage to Xopero ONE, open the Storages tab and click the (+) Add storage button. Performing this action will cause the display of the Add storage form.

Regardless of the type of storage that you want to create, you're able to define the Storage name and Optional description. These two fields will help you identify the storage if you'll decide to use many of them.

Credentials

Most types of storage need credentials in the form of passwords or tokens that you have to enter into Xopero ONE. All Xopero ONE credentials are stored in a secured and encrypted password manager. You can conveniently edit your passwords by going to the Settings tab and then Password Manager.
